Chapter 14

Flood opened his eyes. It took him a few moments to orientate himself. His body clock told him that it was nearing morning. The sun would have just started to rise, if not already, it would soon. The space scented strongly of female and rutting. He could scent his own seed. His dick sprang to life in an instant. What amazed him was how much more invigorated he felt from one rutting session.

Just one.

His hip felt like it had finally started to knit. The pain had greatly subsided. He needed more though. Hopefully Paige wasn’t too tired. Hopefully she was still okay with their arrangement. He wouldn’t blame her if she’d changed her mind.

He rolled onto his good hip, facing her. The female was on her side facing him. Her hand under her head. Flood watched her sleep for a few seconds. Her lips were full and pink. Her lashes fanned her cheeks. She had a smattering of freckles over her nose, making her look younger than she actually was. Her hair was the color of sunshine or it would be if she was outside in the sun. He vowed to make that happen. To keep her safe.

Flood grit his teeth at the thought of the males in this place, particularly of one male. Tim. Flood didn’t care if he had to die in the process but that prick would no longer walk this earth when Flood was done with him. He was going to do everything in his power to make Paige’s sacrifice worth it. He touched her cheek softly. Her eyes sprang open, fear in their depths. “It’s me,” he whispered. “I’m sorry I scared you.”

She pushed out a breath. “Thank goodness. For a second there…” She smiled. “Wait a minute. Are you on your side?” Her eyes widened. “Does this mean?”

“Yes. My hip is finally mending…thanks to you.”

Her eyes darkened at the mention of what they had done. Flood hated having to put her through this. He felt no better than those males who had wanted to use her. Shame rose up in him. Especially since he had enjoyed being inside her so much. Even now, he couldn’t wait to make it happen again. Yes, sure, part of that was his instinctual need to heal, but there was more to it. He liked this female. Really liked her. “Look, we don’t have to…” he began, shaking his head.

“Don’t you dare apologize. Do you want me on top again? We’d better hurry before it gets light.” So clinical in her approach. Of course she was! “Before the others wake up,” she spoke quickly, a sign of nervousness. “It feels like we’ve been asleep for a while.” Yep, she was definitely nervous. Her blue eyes were very big, they held fear.

“I think it will be morning soon and no, you don’t need to be on top,” he whispered. “Turn around and I’ll take you from behind. If that’s okay?” he quickly added. Not wanting to sound like he was forcing her or bossing her around.
